TSA coup - Israeli Chief Scientist to speak at 2011 Celebration Supper

The Technion Society of Australia is pleased to announce that Israeli Chief Scientist, Technion Distinguished Professor Daniel Weihs will be the guest speaker at its 2011 celebration Supper to be held on Sunday evening, 22 May 2011.

Dist/Prof Weihs will be joined by guests of honour, the Governor of NSW, Professor Marie Bashir AC CVO and former Australian Prime Minister, the Right Honourable Bob Hawke AC.

He is an engaging speaker who brings to life the research and practical outcomes achieved at the Technion. This is a once in a decade, invitation only opportunity to hear and meet a man who has played, and continues to play a pivotal role in shaping Israel’s future and is uniquely placed to explain the Technion’s critical importance to her economic, high-tech, scientific and defence well being.

 An acknowledged expert and world leader in fields as diverse as unmanned vehicles, animal locomotion ,space research and intelligent robots, he currently heads the Technion’s Automated Systems Program and is Chairman of the Israel National Committee for Space Research.

Described as a ‘naturalist-engineer’, he applies the lessons of natural phenomena to technological problems. Some 100 research projects from dolphins to dandelions have provided the inspiration for many of the technological innovations that he has pioneered.
